UGA Cooperative Extension: Georgia 4-H
Fortson 4-H Center:
Homeschool Days
Mark your calendars and plan on being at the Fortson 4-H Center on September 20-21, 2010 (rain or shine!) for our overnight environmental education field study. This is a great field trip for individual families or support groups. Our environmental education program provides an excellent opportunity for children to learn about the outdoors and get dirty doing it!
Registration
Fill out the registration form and mail it in along with a $15 per person non-refundable deposit. The deadline for registration is September 10 , 2010.
Cost
The cost includes lodging, classes, and meals.
Adults and students ages 6 and above: $57.00
Children ages 3-5: $28.50; ages 2 and under are free
The Climbing Wall will be available at the end of the trip for children ages 8-17 and adults. This is an additional $14/person.
*Payment should be made to Fortson 4-H Center by cash or check. We do not accept creadit cards.
Age Restrictions and Chaperone Policies
All of our classes can be geared for students ages 5 to 17! We will assign teaching groups based on age groups which will be determined once we have everyone registered. Children under the age of 5 are welcome to attend classes with their older siblings but they must always be under close supervision by an adult.
No drop offs are allowed! If you are unable to attend the field study with your child please make sure they are accompanied by another family.
Lodging
All lodging has heat, AC, and bathrooms. If you have a group of 4 or less you can request a private room in our Smith or Rowan house. Each of these rooms has 2 sets of bunk beds and a private bathroom. Space is limited so register quickly! For everyone else we will have dorm style accomodations for families to share. If you would like to request to stay with another family please make a note of that on your registration form.
Cleanup Duties
Part of the experience at the Fortson 4-H Center involves guest participation in our Dining Hall and our Cabins. You and your children will be assigned a meal for KP (kitchen patrol) duty where they will help us set up and clean up. Everyone is responsible for cleaning their cabins before departure on the last day.
